The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Let's Light Up the Neighborhood!

We use holiday lights to banish the dark during this time of year and to celebrate several holidays. On Sunday, December 19th, bundle up and visit with your friends while walking our neighborhood and enjoying the festive displays of the season. We will be welcoming you with hot chocolate and cookies at two houses on each of Desha, South Hanover and South Ashland. And if you haven't renewed your membership yet for 2022, you will have the chance while getting your refreshments.

We've Got a New Bench in Harvey Park!

Thanks to Francis Short, a long time resident of the 100 block of Desha, we now have a second bench in Harvey Park to welcome you. Francis worked through the city requirements and with the APNA to place a beautiful bench as a memorial to her dear friend, Pat. Thank you, Francis. We will think of you and Pat each time we use Harvey Park.

Ashland: 100 Years of a Lexington Neighborhood

Dennis Carrigan, a long time resident of the Ashland neighborhood, has just published a history of the neighborhood. I have spent the better part of today poring through his work and I am having such a good time. Dennis has captured the history, along with details like correspondence between major and interesting parties (like the Olmstead Brothers) but has carried his work through to more modern day activities and happenings. If you love this neighborhood. . . get Dennis's book! This is a personal and delightful way to learn more. You can reach Dennis Carrigan at
carrigan@uky.edu or purchase it from Worlds Apart or the Ashland gift shop. I just attended the December Ashland Park Women's gathering and kept running into long time residents who are in the book. Are you?

Happy Holidays to All!
